Good Friends
Good Works

The February business meeting was chock full of goodies! SI Davie's members selected the recipient of their Women’s Opportunity Award. The 2008 award will provide a $1,500 scholarship to Broward Community College nursing student Cinzia Molla to assist her as she works toward her 4-year degree. Miss Molla, a native of Peru, embodies the spirit of Soroptimist as a hardworking and conscientious young woman striving to make her life better through education. Stay tuned for more information about our Winner! We're looking forward to getting to know her better!
Another topic that drew a number of comments was the civil unrest in Kenya and how it is affecting the women and children caught up in the fighting. For many of them, survival is the operative word of each day. After discussing the issues, the membership voted unanimously to contribute $250 to aid Soroptimist International's efforts in Kenya.
We can't save the whole world, and we know it. But we can save a little piece here and a little piece there. And, if all the other Soroptimists Clubs are saving a little piece, well ... you just never know. Eventually, we might save the whole world one day! Wouldn't that just be a dream come true? You bet it would!
